HARD WORK -- THE WAY TO SUCCESS

Airtel Man

Sunil Mittal was mediocre in studies but wanted to make a mark in business. After finishing his graduation, he started a small bicycle manufacturing business. He also tried his hand at making steel utensils, but not too successfully. Mittal then started selling imported generators and set up a countrywide sales operation. However, a change in government policy forced him to close down that business. Bur Mittal wasn’t disheartened. He started makinf pish – button telephones. In the 1990’s, when the telecommunication sector in the country promised huge profits, Mittal decided to try and grab a share. He had little chance of success since he would have to compete with huge companies with mammoth budgets. But the gritty Mittal worked (and still works ) almost eighteen hours a day and not just beat the competition but made Bharti Enterprise a 2.7 billion dollar group.

Mittal’s success wasn’t because he was outstandingly brilliant or knew people in high places or was born rich.. It was simply his dedication, hard work and will to succeed that led him to build one of India’s largest telecom companies.

Success depends on a lot of things---- opportunities, talent, luck, fate, your effort and help from others, to name a few. Of these , the only thing in your control is the effort you put in. All other factors will be completely wasted if you don’t work hard at the right time. Also you never know when luck and destiny are in your favour. So it is better to be habitually hard working rather than regret having missed out on an opportunity.

If you study the life of successful people in any field, the common thresd running through them will be hard work and sincerity. You might think that actors and models do little work. They just look pretty but earn pots of money. But don’t they work out for hours in the gym , take grooming classes , practice walking the ramp or memorise theit dialogues and most of all sacrifice all the goog things --- pizzas , cokes, chocolates, ice creams?

To an outsider it may seem easy , but success does not come easy in any profession.
